Jackson, MS. (November 29, 2007) – With Christmas
around the corner, many families are searching for that “perfect” gift. State
Treasurer Tate Reeves believes that gift may be a College Savings Mississippi
Plan. Reeves announced today the deadline for MPACT enrollment has
been extended until December 31st.
The extension is due to the November 7th elections in Mississippi.
The normal open enrollment period for MPACT is September 1st through
November 30th.
“Since this was an election year, I felt that it would be beneficial
to extend the enrollment until the end of December to give families more time
to focus on our College Savings Program,” said Treasurer Tate Reeves.
College Savings Mississippi is designed to prepare future students and
families financially for college. The College Savings Mississippi Prepaid
Affordable College Tuition Program (MPACT) locks college tuition in at
today’s pricing for the cost of tomorrow's education regardless
of future tuition increases.
“Mississippi families must start preparing early for the costs associated
with a college education, and the MPACT program provides a unique opportunity
to lock in today’s tuition rates for a child or grandchild that may attend
school at some point in the future,” said State Treasurer Tate Reeves. “Furthering
the education levels of our children is critical to prepare them for success
in today’s highly competitive economic environment.”
