State Treasurer Tate Reeves issues statement regarding the appointment of Congressman Roger Wicker to serve as U.S. Senator
Jackson, Miss (December 31, 2007): “Mississippians will be well served by Governor Barbour’s decision to appoint Congressman Roger Wicker as our next U.S. Senator. Over the past 20 years, Congressman Wicker has demonstrated tremendous leadership on behalf of our state and country.
In his 13 years in the Congress, Roger has been a tireless advocate for Mississippians in his leadership position on the Appropriations Committee. His work in the aftermath of Katrina in his chamber complimented the great work of Senators Cochran and Lott, and his efforts have expedited our coast’s recovery. I am confident that he will prove to be another in a long line of great United States Senators from Mississippi.”
